More work in the wild!  I worked with the always lovely and fantastic Ms. Joanne Newell to create her new company’s logo, website, and some ebook covers.  Joanne is always very organized and has thought through her art direction thoroughly before beginning, so as always, it was a pleasure working with her!  Check out her site and change your life!

logo_finalI’ve been crazy-busy over the past 2 months working on several big jobs and this one has finally been released into the wild.  I’d love to hear what you think.  This ended up being a way bigger and more time-consuming job than initially planned, but I am happy with the results at least.

Latest work is appearing in The Globe & Mail, Saturday edition (right hand side) and online.

Florian Newspaper Ad

Here are a couple of the frames, but to see the fully animated ads, check out the Globe’s index page. Fun!  You might have to refresh a couple of times before they come up, but one ad appears in the header and one on the right-hand sidebar.

Sand Animation

This is beautiful!  Would you ever see this on American talent shows?  I doubt it, but how much we miss when we decide that shock or glitter are the deciding factors of entertainment.

Nice little feature of “Cyma Girl” on The I Spot today.  Thanks Jami!

In other news, SO busy right now but looking forward to updating you soon.  Cool things will be going live/being published over the next few weeks!

Well Hello There, Stranger!

Posted by Amy on April 21st, 2010 — Posted in Friends and Family, Work

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in good old Orlando (yes, Disney).  We drove, which I highly recommend, as long as you aren’t taking an under-2 year old, who will be convinced that you are sadistic and out to torture them for entertainment…. and trust me, it won’t be entertaining for anyone.  But the princesses delighted all 3 little girls we took, and I always enjoy spending time with my parents.

So it is back in the saddle and I’ve done so much work since my last update, that it is hard to know where to begin, but with approximately 3000 unique visitors per month (thank you visitors!), it will be worth the effort to hopefully give you some entertainment that doesn’t involve begging to be set free of car seats and being hit in the head by flying pencils thrown by disgruntled toddlers.

Here goes….

Google Saves the Day Again!

If you have ever had a client ask you for the spot colour or PMS for some CMYK artwork you’ve created, you know that what you see on your computer screen is not always the same as what a printing press will output.  So, what to do?

Baby you can drive my car…

Posted by Amy on November 27th, 2009 — Posted in Shooting the Breeze, Work

Things are slowing down a bit for Christmas, but since I am moving on Monday (again!), I’m not complaining.  Thank goodness to be gone from the miserable downtown apartment building with the crusty and dishonest neighbour and into the cute little 3 bedroom house, complete with a fully-fenced backyard and neighbourhood full of kids my daughter’s age!

Now that we are officially going to be living in the ‘burbs, I bought a car!  This will be my first car since the $300 Ford Tempo I owned 10 years ago (holy, time flies!) and I’m excited.  My dad is driving it up on Sunday and it will be so exciting to be able to install our car seats and keep them put for the foreseeable future!  I’m also looking forward to a lot more fresh air and outdoor activity!

In work news, here’s the latest.  It’s a logo for a web banner.  They’ll be using a simplified version for the business cards and smaller uses, but I thought this turned out to be pretty sweet.

Lastly, I was excited to learn that at least one of my donated prints was sold at the aforementioned “Whodunnit” event.  The proud owner was kind enough to contact me and let me know how happy he was with his purchase.  Very cool!
